We had our NT scan today and we made it into Johns Hopkins without traffic (thank to all of our Presidents). The people were really nice and our scanner (I'm sure there's a technical name for her) was in training to be certified, so she said that someone who was already certified would be coming in to take the official pictures for the NT measurement. She was really funny and excited when we told her it was twins.
They put the warm gel on my belly and started the scan. For a split second, I was afraid that we wouldn't see anything, but there they were! They were moving all around and in perfect position for the scan. They measured the upper twin first and all was good...they took pictures of his/her head, feet, hands, face, whole body, brain, stomach...it was all so cool. Then they tried to get the lower twin in the picture, but this one was all turned around and they couldn't get a good look. So, I had to drink some more water...I drank another 1/2 liter of water and it worked. He (and I can say "he" with some certainty) turned around just in time for the tech (the certified one) to get two good measurements. Then the original tech just took more pictures of all of his body parts...we really got a good shot of the penis, but we're not going to bank on that until our scan at 16 weeks...they should be able to see better then.
Then the tech "in training" asked if she could play for a little while...I had to pee like a race horse, but I said fine...she took some pictures in 3D which are the coolest...I didn't know they were going to do that, but it is awesome! I'm going to try to scan them tomorrow to post them, but I am just so happy that they're doing well and things are measuring where they should.
Got some new maternity clothes this weekend (thanks Mom) and got over my fear of maternity pants...they're still a little bit too big for me, but that's okay for now. I'll deal with that. Back to work tomorrow (which sucks), but that's life, right? I just hope that my headache stays at bay...I think that it's a tension headache which could have been caused by any number of things...I'm hoping that I was just nervous about the scan and now that it's over, it'll go away. We'll see. That's all for now!
