Okay, so here's my dilemma...we're having the babies baptized (whoever thought that word was spelled with a "z"?) in April. I'm not really a white flowing gown or white suit kind of girl, so it stands to reason that I wouldn't put my children in them. However, I don't really know the etiquette. I have found some gowns for Hailey that I would put her in, but the outfits for the boys are pretty gross. Here's what I have come up with as alternatives:
Hailey could wear this:
Matthew could wear this as his shirt:
And these as his pants:
I think they'd look cute. They could wear them again and I wouldn't be getting all fussy with gowns and stuff. So, what do you think? Would I be breaking the religious rules of etiquette if I went in this direction?? Thanks!

At my church, not a problem. Actually, I was the odd ball having "typical" homemade gowns for all 4 of mine (yes, even the boys). However, my church does not baptize children, it is a baby dedication....you the parent are dedicating yourself to raising your child in the way of the Lord.
I love what you have picked out. I personally think that if anyone has a problem with it, it is their problem, not yours. If you are happy with it, then go with it, regardless of what others think.
Those outfits are so sweet! I am in love with Matthew's shirt. He will be able to wear it all summer. Nice choices!

I think those would be fine choices...my son didn't wear a gown when he was baptized...my mom made him an outfit (She did make Sarah a gown) that was the same fabric as Sarah's gown but with a shirt and shorts/pants, all in white.
I think Hailey's dress is beautiful and Matthew would look wonderful in what you have chosen
