Sooooo frustrated!
Hailey will not drink her bottle...she won't even take it from a sippy cup! We are down to three bottles a day and she won't get close to finishing any of them! It's so frustrating b/c people on different websites say that formula should still be her main source of nutrition, but it's not. She eats baby food like it's going out of style...she's still a little choppy on her finger foods, but she's coming along. Maybe I'm just overreacting. Aren't babies supposed to like their bottles though? Isn't a bottle supposed to be a soothing thing for a baby and they should look forward to them like crazy? That's just not the case in my house. I don't know what to do...any suggestions???

I would not stress about it...maybe since she is eating more solid food she needs less milk because she is full. As long as she is growing it is probably nothing to stress over...(even though you will stress anyway). Of course you know those websites will only freak you the hell out...so stay off those and only listen to us blogging buddies...we know ALL!!! HA!!!
I am sure she is fine...besides have you tasted that shit...I wouldn't want it anymore either.....sam
I wish I had some advice for you, but I don't. Good luck!
I was sent to your website by Amanda. I have a 11 month old that has refused bottled starting around 7.5months old. I payed for numerous dr's visits because I was also being told that Formula/Bottles was hte primary source of nutrition and I was barely getting 12oz in him a day. TOTAL.. My ped was not thrilled about this at all.. Um thanks, Neither was I. My son, at 11 months old Still only gets 12 oz of formula on a good day. At first, I offered the bottle 100 times a day... Then I just decided to go with the flow. I mean, It's really all You can do. If she will eat fingerfoods/baby foods , offer the most enriched foods she will eat. I did black beans, garbonzo beans, basically any bean for protein and green veggies. Yo baby yogurt is also very liquidy. That was a staple for a while. You can see pictures on my blog of my Son. He is growing and so far pretty healthy - but still refuses to drink a bottle and never finishes it ..Ever.
I (think I)figurued out ours was mostly related to teething. It hurts for them to suck. I have been known to put formula in a bowl/glass and let him lap it up or sip it somedays.
My heart goes out to you because I have rode out this frustration. But we have made it ..So far. With a healthy, Happy (most days) baby. Hang in there. If there is anything I can help with Email me or leave a comment on my blog.
This sounds so frustrating. I'm sorry she's struggling with the bottle and wish I could offer some advice!
My first thought - which someone already suggested - was teething. I know my two would have that issue once in a while, too - didn't drink much at all for a few days and then a tooth would break and we'd be good again.
The other thought was just wondering if you offer the bottle first. I made the mistake of doing solids 1st, then bottles So what I did instead was to give a bottle first...then maybe an hour later do the solids. If they didn't eat enough of the bottle, I'd offer that again - and sometimes not give the solids until they ate enough of the bottle.
Good luck...hang in there. We'll be starting solids again soon with our 3rd baby and I 'hope' its easier to figure it all out this time around...but I remember switching to solids being a tough time to figure it all out...
That does sound frustrating, hope it gets better soon! If it's any consolation, both my twins completely pooped out on formula around 9-10 months. They ate tons of baby food and a good variety. I also got them to drink their bottles by going half whole milk/half formula and in lesser quantities. Then they didn't want to give up their bottle go figure.
Rebecca-
First of all, if Hailey is growing, and gaining weight on a good curve-don't worry! I know that is easier said than done.
I remember with my one daughter, if the fluid did not come out at just the right speed, she would not drink. She is also my girl who is very tactile, is always playing with textures. Hailey may just be tactile, and may not like the feeling of the formula on her tongue. Or, she could be teething (she is the right age), and drinking may cause discomfort. Believe it or not, swallowing liquids is a very complicated task.
Just a thought, have you tried sippy cups without the valve or faster flow nipples on the bottles? sometimes not having to suck as hard helps especially if she is teething. Hope Hailey comes around
