Before I Was A Mom...

Before I was a Mom, I had a flat tummy, cute bootie, pedicured toes, blown out hair, cute clothes, nice shoes, and a facial was never out of the question. (okay to be truthful, I still have a pedicure, blown out hair, and cute clothes...I just can't spend an hour getting a facial...can't do it.)

Before I was a Mom, I completed thoughts, books, errands, chores, magazines, and meals.

Before I was a Mom, shoe choice was decided upon the weather...not upon how many times I had to get kids in/out of the car, in/out of the stroller, and how far I had to walk until I could sit down again.

Before I was a Mom, I had a small pocketbook.

Before I was a Mom, I didn't think that much about sun protection.

Before I was a Mom, I did a lot less laundry and minded a lot more.

Before I was a Mom, I didn't try to turn everything into an "adventure."

Before I was a Mom, I slept...I slept well.

Before I was a Mom, the busy street I live on didn't bother me as much.

Before I was a Mom, I never examined the sidewalk or grass like I do now.

Before I was a Mom, my house was actually decorated.

Before I was a Mom, Dog didn't bother me as much...now she's just another person staring at me wanting me to guess her thoughts.

Before I was a Mom, no one pushed my nipple like it was a doorbell and said "boobie." (okay, well maybe Husband did once, but that doesn't count, right?)

Before I was a Mom, I didn't have so much plastic in my house (seriously...why aren't the environmental people going after kid toy manufacturers...this shit can't be recycled, right?).

Before I was a Mom, I never dreamed I would go through so much to actually become a Mom...I didn't even like kids.

Before I was a Mom, I was a teacher...I now feel that it's important to hold my own kids to a high standard, but I'm letting other kids off the hook...it's usually not their fault.

Before I was a Mom, I peed alone.

Before I was a Mom, I loved my life...I still do...I just miss some of the things from my former life...B.K. Before Kids.

Great post!

Before I was a Mom, I never paid attention to what song was playing on the radio, but now that I have little ears to protect, songs about taking rides on disco sticks and whatnot just seems wrong.

Before I was a mom I never knew how rude it was for my husband and I to take a booth in a seat-your-self restaurant so that the family of 4+ had to crowd into a table for 2.

Yes!! So I'm not alone! I just wrote pretty much this same thing in my journal the other day. I'm with you on all of this!

Love this post, and that is a GREAT picture at the end!

My favorite part? That you didn't even like kids, yet you were a teacher and now a mom. I kind of feel the same way sometimes. I like MY kids now, of course, but I'm still not so sure about anyone else's! : )

Brfore I was a mom, I kept the TV on for the noise. Now I am loathe to mar any potentially silent moment.

It's amazing how much life changes.

I'm jealous that you still manage to have a pedicure, blown out hair, and still look put together.

That's a great picture of you with the kiddos! You can just tell that Hailey is getting such a sweet hug. :)

I laugh, thinking about life before kiddos...I worked crazy long hours, and on the weekends we would just veg and do exactly what we wanted to do. On Mondays, folks would ask what I did over the weekend, I would have to say, nothing. If I had answered them honestly, I would have detailed at least one, if not two, naps a day, a mani/pedi (or at least a polish change), shopping for sport, eating out basically every meal, and watching some sports on TV. Ahhh, the life! HA!

I'm looking forward to the girls being old enough to accompany me on some of those adventures...like the mani/pedi and lunch out parts. :)

What a cute picture of you and your kiddo's! I so can relate. Before I was a mom, I didn't need excessive amounts of caffeine to stay awake:)

And in a blink, the kids are grown and you can have all those things again (except maybe the flat tummy!). I love this picture and would like it in a frame someday, OK?

LOVE that pic - you all look great and are looking in same direction (how did you figure that out?!)

LOVE deanna's response - I'm also still not sure about other people's babies. Proper children who can talk - yes!

cute pic of you 3! great list, too. I seriously need to start shutting (& locking) the bathroom door. Some days I end up with all 3 kids and both dogs in there with me. WTF?
