Friday Funyuns

- Still dumbfounded over Husband's admission that he's sick of me using lemon in my cooking...sorry, Hun...guess I'll stop using the freshest ingredient on Earth!!!
- Note to self: When you give Crazies old cell phones to play with, make sure the alarm is set to "off." That way you'll avoid having simultaneous alarms going on on a random Tuesday morning...one upstairs and one downstairs...craziness!!!
- It takes me like 5 days to send a card these days...day one - buy the card, day two - take the card out of the bag, day three - fill out the card/envelope (yeah, that's a big day), day four - remember when I put return address labels and put one on the envelope, day five - stamp and mail. I have issues...
- So afraid to eat fresh eggs from the CSA...every time I crack one, I expect to see feathers and a little beak!
- I went to get some wine after MY LAST OFFICIAL NIGHT OF TUTORING FOR THIS YEAR. I walked in and, I gotta say, I was looking pretty cute. The guy at the counter said, "whoa...the pretty girls just got here." I said something humble of course. Then he retorted with "ah...you have no idea...we had some real Ugs in here a little while ago." So, my question is, should I be happy that I got called pretty? Or be slightly disappointed that it was only after "Ugs" were in the store?
- We got a fence!!!! FREEDOM!!!
- I shouldn't be around mothers of newborns...I am not a positive influence b/c I say things like, "awww...your baby is so cute...I never want to do that again" or "he's adorable...God, I don't miss that." What is wrong with me??? I'm such an asshole!!!
- My kids are so good at going up and down the stairs...how did they learn that skill? God knows, I've tried to keep them away from the stairs at all costs! Did I mention we don't have banisters in our house either??? Yeah...they use the walls...like Helen Keller.
- It amazes me that Hailey doesn't wake up during Matt's night terrors...she sleeps right through every scream...amazing.
- Husband is so much of a "safer" parent that I am and it kind of drives me nuts (BTW...I guess I use that terms a lot b/c the Crazies picked up on it). He washes the beans that I pick right out of our own garden (the horror, right?). He runs a lot quicker to a crying child (what a horrible Dad, right?). He's always telling me that I need to be more vigilant (okay, this one is just kind of annoying). He's just a safety freak...a rule follower...and a worrier. I guess that every set of parents needs both...one who is a little more free and one who thinks of all of the bad things that could possibly happen. I just feel bad for him...I just want him to relax a little bit and go with the flow...stop the worrying...it'll give you a heart attack, dude!!!
- There was a video posted on Yahoo news tonight about an autistic kids who earned salutatorian for is class. He's autistic and his speech was amazing. Here it is if you're interested...just goes to show you what a kid can do if he/she has parents who just won't quit.
- What blog did I read where the chicka started "washing" her hair just with water? If you're reading, show yourself...I tried it this morning and my hair feels amazing! I think you're on to something here! The only thing that I need to determine is how long it will go without looking greasy. I tend to have an issue with my hair looking a little greased up...I hate that. I'm going to try "water washing" for a week and report back next Friday.

no lemon? that's hard not to do. try balsamic vinegar for a change. or use all those fresh herbs.
no shampoo or conditioner? i wouldn't be able to get a brush through my hair without the conditioner. hmmm...
ask kari about the eggs...there's a way to tell if they're fresh. i'm not sure if there's a way to tell if there's a chick inside. ha ha ha...
My hubs hates the lemon too. Oh and any other fresh herbs I may decide to toss in there. But salt? There's never enough salt!!!
Five days isn't too bad for cards...I have a two right here on the counter. I bought them mid-May, one for a high school graduation, the other for my uncle's birthday on May 24. Yeah...
And I just had to call my dad today and tell him his Father's Day card is going to be late. I had it with me to mail, and realized I hadn't put a stamp on it. Then, the next day, I missed the mailman. So I kinda tried on this one, just to no avail.
...but I still give myself a pass for having "newborns" (17-month old "newborns", that is, but I think twins count for something extra for a long time).
Let us know how the hair-washing (or not washing) goes. I think I might could make it a day or so, but I really like my freshly washed hair too, so maybe not.
I actually bought my dad and my husband Father's Day cards about two weeks ago! Not that my dad will get his on time, of course, but it's the thought that counts.
Haha, the Helen Keller comment is hysterical. Also the fact that you even send cards is good! I can't even do that much.
I love your posts. They are so much fun!
Hell! I'm impressed you remember to BUY cards! I used to be SO on top of that...now I'm lucky to even get to a Hallmark once every 3 months!
Ugs? Nice comment, dude! Kind of a backhanded compliment.
re: Hailey not waking up to Matt. I think they get used to it. Jacob always sleeps through Sarah's noises (groaning, crying, bumping, etc) but the first peep Jacob makes (who rarely wakes up or makes noise overnight), Sarah is immediately awake and crying too!
I have heard of the video of the speech...haven't watched it yet...but totally agree. I have had some AMAZING parents of my students...and some who look for someone to blame or a constant excuse for their kid. Some just deal with it and move on...and THOSE are the kids that make the most progress!
This post cracked me up, girl. I am SOO with you on the egg thing. Isn't that weird? Did I post that right before I found out I was pregnant, I cracked an egg and there were two yolks?! I thought it was a sign.
And, Michael is SUCH a safer parent than me, too! It's like living with the freaking Safety Patrol. Ridiculous.
OK, and while I do sometime find myself wishing for another squishy baby, I do find myself walking away from new parents feeling grateful that I'll be sleeping tonight. AMEN.
I am such the laid back parent in this house too. Husband is always telling me to "be careful"... ahh whatev.
Water washing? My hair tends to be on the greasy side too, I will wait for your report!
And, I am sure it was a REAL compliment!!
God bless the fence. Enjoy your sanity!
Can you explain the water washing?! I'm too busy laughing at your Helen Keller comment to be able to Google anything about water washing. And I'm slightly envious of your fence!! Enjoy!
I was complaining to my mom recently about my husband and how when we're at a family function (at someone's house, out at dinner, whatever) that he doesn't make much conversation with people anymore because he tends to the girls 100% of the time. What?! I'm complaining about this? Most moms would kill to have this problem. :)
Have you heard of Wen hair care? I got sucked in to an infomercial one night. I think my hair is too fine for it but it might work for you.
You crack me up! I had to read the Helen Keller part to Tim. Oh yeah, and he's the overprotective parent in our family, too.
Is this the post your looking for as far as washing hair with water goes? http://herewegoajen.com/?p=107
