What does your child do that reminds you most of yourself? How does it make you feel?

What does your child do that reminds you most of yourself? How does it make you feel?

That is my chosen writing prompt from Mamakat's Writer's Workshop.

I love this prompt because my twins are so different and yet I can see parts of myself in each of them.

Let's talk about Hailey first:

When I ask Hailey a question, I always wait for an answer. I might not get it right away, but I know it's coming because she puts on her "thinking face." She lowers her eyes and looks down to the right. Sometimes, she says, "mmmmmmm...." while she's thinking. Here's the thing...I know she already knows the answer...and it's usually "no."

I'm pretty sure I do this when they're asking me things too. It's hysterical that she picked up on this and now uses it every day.

"Hailey, do you want some more blueberries?" ""
"Hailey, can you put on your shoes so we can leave?" ""
"Hailey, please apologize to your brother." ""

Can you tell her answer is almost always "no?" She cracks me up.

Now let's talk about Matt:

Matt is one of the most gregarious kids I know. He loves to be around people and loves to try/learn new things. The one habit that Matt has picked up from me is doing things that he shouldn't do and smiling the entire time.

Here's why this reminds me of me...I used to do this. I knew I was cute enough to get away with things and I used to totally push the limits. I would push little by little with the cutest smile on my face until whoever I was trying to annoy would get fed up. This is him...he knows the limits...he knows how cute he is...he knows how far to go.

I'm not sure if this is something he's picked up from watching me or if it's something that is just part of his personality. It's amazing though that I can see the gleam in his eye when he's pushing those limits and it makes me laugh every time.

It also makes me a bit nervous b/c if he's like this now, at 22 months, what will he be like a six!!!???!!! Or twenty!!!???!!!
