Makes My Monday: New Baby Edition

Trying to talk her uncle into reading that book for her

Check out Cousin Matt's hand...very supportive

A sweet moment with Mom Mom

We're going to be great pals, Buddy.

We spent Saturday going to see the new baby in the family.  What makes my Monday is watching the Crazies interact with this tiny little being in such a gentle way.  I love the way that Hailey was looking down at him and the way that Matt was holding his little head...they were very careful and thoughtful.  I loved it.  Oh, and no, it did not make me want to have another one...so, don't even ask.

Today we're having our first "nut free" kid come over and I'm a nervous wreck.  How do these parents do it???  I'm reading labels like crazy and rethinking every decision I make for lunch.  Here's what I've decided to serve:

Ham and cheesestick "sushi"
Pineapple chunks
Strawberries
Goldfish (because I've seen him eat them before)

I won't kill him, will I???

Thanks Cheryl for hosting!

aww! so cute! Adam was playing with one of Sarah's baby dolls yesterday and being so cute with it. :-)

Whew...what pressure to deal with to host an allergy kid! I've had allergy kids in my classroom before and it takes some getting used to! Hope all goes well!

Oh the baby is SO cute! We can appreciate cute without wanting one - I love it. We are both totally done.

I wouldn't even know where to start with nut-free (seems everything I see is "made in a factory that uses nut")

I'm sure he will be fine! The nut free stuff scares me too. So afraid of giving another child something that will set the allergy off!

love the pics

does that kid have an epi-pen? the mom should teach you how to use it. my student is allergic to nuts so i had her teach me.

Oh Rebecca, I ADORE their demostrated tenderness! (Plus they couldn't be any more adorable!)

Allergies make me SOOOO paranoid...but I think your lunch menu sounds perfect!

Thank you so much for playing along with Makes My Monday...and happy--and healthy--playdate!

Good luck with the peanut-free kid! I really am glad that my kids don't have any peanut allergies!

As one of "those parents," let me just say thank you for being aware of food allergies and trying to accommodate their child. Nathan is still young enough that we don't have too many situations where we need to worry about this (their day care is completely nut-free, but we still worry about his egg allergy), and he doesn't yet realize he is different. But I know the day is coming and it keeps me up at night.

Those pictures are precious! Apparently the Crazies aren't as squeamish about googly-headed babies as you, huh?! :)

KNOCK ON WOOD, we don't have any allergies, and I think about that from time to time...how great it is to be able to buy anything in the grocery store, or order anything from a menu. One of my BFFs is lactose-intolerant, and I always feel so handicapped when I try to cook for her. Sounds like you've come up a fun menu nonetheless.

Cute baby, cute kids.... I love the beauty in family moments! Makes me **almost** wish we visited family more often!

Does Hailey not have the longest eyelashes ever?

We have a nutfreer coming over today too. It's totally nerveracking!!! And he's egg free too. Do you know how much stuff has eggs in it????

I like your menu. Good work.

Happy Presidents Day!

These pictures are so sweet! They look like they really enjoyed meeting their baby cousin! Mine are so into babies right now!

I hope the play date with the nut free little one went well! Your menu sounded pretty safe, plus every kid love those things. I agree that would be a tough and scary job to be a parent to a child went any allergic reactions! My DH and I took a Disney cruise pre kids and meet a little boy allergic to seafood! Silly kid even tried swimming with the dolphins and had an attack! Scary!

Me again.... I know you just got this, but I had to give it to you too! You have an award awaiting you on my blog!

We have to do all nut free lunches for Tot and it has taken me forever to get the hang of it. It's amazing how many things are off limits.
