Friday Night Leftovers - the waterlogged edition

Thanks to Danifred for hosting...this always makes my Friday better!

  • Let's face it...I'm sick of the rain...we've been getting pounded.
  • I'm a big fan of umbrellas though...I don't know why people don't use them more often.
  • Trudging through the rain in flipflops sucks...just saying.
  • I feel horrible for the people in Pennsylvania anywhere near the Susquehanna...they are flooded beyond flooded.
  • The Crazies are sick of the rain too.
  • This morning, Matt yelled, "Oh, come on!  Rain again?  I've had enough of this!"
  • I don't know where he learned that sort of behavior.
  • I wore pants to bed last night...the first sign of Autumn.
  • Of course, it meant that I slept so deeply that Husband had to get up with the Crazies if they were troubled...and they were...troubled (damn night terrors).
  • I've been getting a good response from my Mystery Hostess Trunk Show where all proceeds go to Susan G. Komen...that makes me excited.  Apparently, I like to do nice things. If you haven't checked it out yet, do so...it has the potential to be a really great deal if you win...all for buying yourself or someone else a beautiful piece of jewelry for the Fall season (Trunk Show closes 9/18).
  • If you're a Dad, know a Dad, or love a Dad...check this out.
  • Hailey dressed herself this morning in her Easter dress (too short), a white/pink cardigan (too small), purple Hello Kitty socks, and her Abby sneakers...she took off the cardigan before we left because it "didn't feel right."  This girl is amazing.
  • BTW, is being mean to your mother a rite of passage for 3-year olds?  The recent treatment is ridiculous and I feel like I'm always yelling/teaching/explaining/scolding for things that shouldn't be such a big deal.  Maybe they're just extra spirited this week because of the rain.
  • School, dance, and swim lessons start next week...maybe that will knock the "spirit" out of them.
  • I got a laminator...psyched.
  • We have an End of Summer party tomorrow...what a cute idea, right?
  • Why does Container Store have such steep shipping charges?  And no online coupons?  I just don't feel like hiking 45 minutes to pick up magazine files.  They're so cute though, aren't they???
  • I'm going shopping tomorrow afternoon all by myself.  Husband understands my need for back-to-school shopping even if I'm not going back to school.  Is it any wonder why I love him so much?  I can't wait although, I have to confess something...I'm kind of bummed that I can't bring the stroller because I HATE carrying all of those bags.  Demented, aren't I?  Shall I give you a fashion show when I get back?
Have a great weekend!

Thanks for the shout out, as we live very close to the Susquehanna, in Lancaster. Our house is okay but there are many who are under water.

As far as your cute magazine files go...Target has them.

I also want to know about the laminator.

Julia who reads my blog also wants one so what is the fascination with one? :)

Matt is exactly you - that is all.

Enjoy your shopping tomorrow - bags and all!

Yep, a fashion show indeed! I have often said the same thing about bringing the stroller with. Such a pain to actually carry the bags, huh?

We had a sprinkle this morning when we were leaving A's school and K said, "Oh come on! It's raining on my head!" Bwaahahaha.

Wait, the scolding for minor things just started at your house? I wish.

When the sun came out tonight, we all did a little happy dance. I'm running a 5K in the morning and I'm praying the rain stays away at least until after that!

My 3 yo has been a nightmare the last week. Yelling at me, disobeying, fighting me on EVERYTHING. It's maddening. I'm praying this phase ends. SOON.

Enjoy shopping! I got a little bit today and it was wonderful.

I've seriously thought about buying a laminator, too. One of the ones that can do the really thick laminate...not the flimsy crap that my school uses.

We haven't had any of the crazy rain but our temps have gone from 95 to 55 within 2 days! now we're back in the 70s, headed for 80s then back to 50s! WTH?

Thanks for posting that Dad link...kept seeing it pop up on FB on my lunch hour, on our phone but then kept forgetting to search for it in the evening.

OH...and the jewelry reminder. I keep thinking about that bracelet. I think I need it. :-) (and I feel justified since I'm helping a good cause :-)

I was thrilled to see the sun today. Thrilled. And, I don't know why people don't use umbrellas- it boggles my mind.

Love that dad and daughters article. I sent it to Bee :)

Yes to the fashion show - have fun (but I wish I were with you to hold your choices for you)

I think I saw magazine files like that in Staples or Target recently if you don't want to wait.

YES, the kids are antsy because of the weather - aren't you? Keep doing the reading, arts & crafts, and projects and you'll all make it (wish I were there to help though)

I am one of those morons who never use an umbrella. I blame it on college when I had to walk REALLY FAR and the cheap ass umbrellas I always got woudl blow inside out making them useless and me soaking wet anyway.
I always think "gee, I wish I had an umbrella" now, and never get one.

I want to see the fashion!

We could sure the use the rain here in Texas. We spent half our labor Day oblivious to the Bastrop Complex and Union Chapel fires burning less than 3 miles away. We spent the other half in stunned silenece watching the wall of smoke rising over 1000 feet in the sky trying to find a way home only to get caught a few miles from our house by roadblocks from the Tri County/Magnolia/Riley Road Fire. We did eventually get home, and luckily (knock on wood!) aren't in the path of the blaze at present. Though we have coworkers whose homes are within a mile of the front line and who have been evacuated and don't know yet if their homes are still standing.

I don't even remember when we last had rain. We are something like 30 inches behind in our annual rainfall numbers. Everything is parched and dry and due to the drought and water shortages have been conserving water for months.

Like in years past during Hurricane season we keep an eye on the gulf. This year, instead of hoping for the storms to pass us by we have begun to hold our breath hoping a nice tropical storm will come our way and sit over us for a week or so bringing us some rain we so desperately need.
