To Do...

It's a neverending list...perpetual, if you may...why wouldn't it be?  Is there ever a time where there is nothing to do?

So, we have my "To Do" list...ugh...

Marcia asked to see it, so here you go:

There's more that will be added to the list as I remember through the week.  Things that get done will be crossed off and things that are not done will be added to next week's list.  I keep it all in the same document and leave it open most of the time.  Tasks in green are things that definitely need to get done this week.

Here is last week's list:
See, if I add the things that I didn't complete to next week's list, it looks like everything got done, right?  Pure genius on my part!  LOL...not really...just makes me feel better about myself.  (BTW, those thank you notes are finally done even though they're not crossed off.)

Now, if you really want to see where I'm an organizational psycho, here you go...my monthly meal planner:

Now you think I'm nuts, right?  I just hate repeating meals too often and when I'm out of the house two nights a week for tutoring, it's gotta be organized...laid out for everyone to see.

I also print out my weekly Google calendar and write what we spend on there for Budget Talks, but we haven't had one of those in a while...we really need to have one.  I'll put that on my to-do list.

How do you keep yourself on track?

Are you a computer person?  Or hand written lists?

How do working Moms get anything done?  That question plagues me like crazy...yes, it's a mere 2 years away and I'm already obsessing about how I'll take care of the house, my kids, my marriage, my friendships, my body, and my sanity...good times.

Have you seen the trailer for "I Don't Know How She Does It?" It's timely for this latest post of yours.

i should write down what i spend...that's a good idea. we don't have budget talks and we should. i was just thinking about that yesterday.

did you send me those pictures that you printed because "sending" wasn't actually on your list of things to do :)

I love your list and yes, now it makes it clear - I thought you'd set it as your picture on your desktop.

To answer your question, you have to let some things go or hire lots of help because you can't get it all done. At least not if you want to actually spend time with your husband and kids too.

Honestly, the sooner you realise this the happier you'll be :)

Link up your list!!! http://www.the123blog.com/2011/09/lists-perfectionism-hair-and-my-sept.html

I'm technically a computer person but for ease (as in so hubby can see it as well) our to-do lists get written out and we keep the typical "on the fridge" calendar.

Just got introduced to pinterest over the weekend. - goodbye whatever free time I might have had. :p

You just do it. Just like you probably thought..."how do mom's of twins manage?" before you had them. You just do. I am a teacher and mom of twins and we make it work. You will be fine because you are an organizational freak. You have to let a few things go...but after the initial shock, it works itself out :)

I like it on paper because I like the physical act of crossing it off the list. That is so satisfying!

Wow, you are organized!

I keep all of mine written down in my planner.

lol. i still write my lists by hand. i tried to do the google calendar with b, but he doesn't keep track of it....so that left me doing the thing by myself and that wasn't helpful. now we just review weekly what has to happen. if something is very important, i make him put it in his blackberry.

i get my ass out of bed every morning at 5am to workout. or else i wouldn't be able to go until 7pm. and i never really liked working out in the evening.

and have i mentioned how i feel like i suck at my job right now? that's how i do it. lol. right now i guess i'm picking working out over excelling in work. that might have to change this semester. apparently i'm meeting with Thailand's PM of Health next week. yikes!

maybe i should move to electronic lists??

I write lists all over the place. We have a markerboard calendar we use since it is something we physically see every day and both refer to it often.

Budget talks - nope. I manage it all and really don't want to burden him with it.

You should see the back door of our pantry. It is a schedule/ calendar/ record keeping mecca. I've actually thought about taking a picture and posting it (because I was thinking about how psycho I am lately) but it has way too much personal information for me to try and delete before posting.
I'll try to blog about my over-organized anal self soon too.

A monthly meal planner isn't crazy---it's genius! Why don't I do this?!

I'm a handwritten list girl. I don't know why, but I just prefer my lists on post it notes. Weird, right? Maybe it's the satisfaction I get from actually crossing things off.

Despite how much I use the computer, I'm more of a hand written kind of person for lists and calendars. I have been trying to convert to using the calendar on my phone but still write thing in my planner, too.

We need to get back into the menu habit. DH is doing most of the cooking these days since he works from home and the kids and I aren't getting home until almost 5:30 now. UGH! But by the time I get students on buses, hit the gym for maybe 30 minutes then make 2 stops to pick up kids...our evenings are rushed! HATE it! And I feel like we need to be even more strict with bedtimes since the kids are in real school and not getting naps now. I fear a huge meltdown from Sarah any day now - :-(

I put my lists on paper - I have to take them with me everywhere, and even though my phone is attached to my left hand usually - I still never remembered to check the lists.

Also, I really like physically crossing shit off.

I have used my google calendar for meal planning lately, it would be smart to add in the budget info as that is on our list of htings to fine-tune.... so smart, you are!
