Cawfee Tawk

Let's get to know each other a bit...here are some questions I would ask you if we were chatting over a cup of cawfee:

1.  How did you meet your husband?
2.  What is the one thing in this world that calms you down instantly?
3.  What makes you feel more "put together?"  A manicure?  Pedicure?  Great outfit?
4.  If there was one thing you could have for Christmas, what would it be?
5.  Do you wear contacts or glasses?  Would you get Lasik if you could?
6.  If you wake up in the middle of the night, do you lay in your bed trying to go back to sleep?  Or do you get up and try to accomplish something?
7.  What is the most annoying thing in your house that you would totally get rid of if you wouldn't get caught?

Okay, here are my answers:

1.  How did you meet your husband?  We met at a bar in Philadelphia...a friend and I had perched ourselves right outside the men's room (sexy, aren't we?) and I made some wiseass remark that garnered me some attention and my friend ended up giving Husband my number.  While we were talking, I asked him how old he was and determined he was "way too young."  He threw my number away after that rude comment.  A few month later, he ended up seeing me at another bar on the Jersey Shore (I swear it's b/c I was wearing the same outfit as our first meeting) and we ended up talking again.  He kept my number and the rest is history.

2.  What is the one thing in this world that instantly calms you down?  The beach...every single time.  My runner up answer would be a bath with any LUSH product carelessly thrown in.

3.  What makes you feel more "put together?"  A manicure?  Pedicure?  Great outfit?  A manicure is my answer...even in gym clothes, a manicure makes me feel like I have my shit together.

4.  If there was one thing you could have for Christmas, what would it be?  I have no idea...I want a lot of things, so I constantly direct Husband to my pinterest board (yes, I created a pinterest Christmas list board...you should too).  He thinks I'm crazy.  It's loaded with all sorts of useless crap b/c I don't really want anything.  I'm pretty damn happy with life right now!

5.  Do you wear contacts or glasses?  Would you get Lasik if you could?  Yes, and I would get Lasik...if it was covered by insurance and didn't involve someone sticking a laser in my eye...a laser is like fire, right?  That's freaking scary.  I would also get a tummy tuck, but no one asked.

6.  If you wake up in the middle of the night, do you lay in your bed trying to go back to sleep?  Or do you get up and try to accomplish something?  I lay there...like a dolt...trying to go back to sleep.

7.  What is the most annoying thing in your house that you would totally get rid of if you wouldn't get caught?  Dog...it's not that I don't love her because I do, but it's just one more thing to take care of...I know, I'm Cruella Deville...whatever.

Your turn!  Play along and link back to me if you're game...have a great Sunday and

GO GIANTS!!!
The Eagles stink and their fans are slimy smelly worms...that's right, Husband...suck it.

How perfect that I am drinking my coffee as I read this!

1. How did you meet your husband?
He's not my husband yet, but Nick and I met our senior year of college. He was roommates with my friend Lauren, and she needed to bring him some cold medicine on campus in between classes. We met on the steps of Washburn, as Lauren handed him some decongestant. Sexy, right?
2. What is the one thing in this world that calms you down instantly?
Like you, the beach. Always and forever.
3. What makes you feel more "put together?" A manicure? Pedicure? Great outfit?
Heels. Maybe because I rarely wear them? And concealer.
4. If there was one thing you could have for Christmas, what would it be?
A vacation. Or someone to pay for grad school for me : )
5. Do you wear contacts or glasses? Would you get Lasik if you could?
Yes and yes. No question.
6. If you wake up in the middle of the night, do you lay in your bed trying to go back to sleep? Or do you get up and try to accomplish something?
I lay there unless I know that I'm REALLY not getting back to sleep. Then I usually pull out a book until I get tired again.
7. What is the most annoying thing in your house that you would totally get rid of if you wouldn't get caught?
I honestly can't think of anything. I don't have too much stuff!

Happy Sunday!

I knew part of the story of you meeting your hubby, but not that he said he was too young. That's hilarious. :)

On a daily basis, a pedicure makes me feel more put-together...no matter how crazy it is, it's so nice to look down and see pretty toes. :)

Contacts mostly, sometimes glasses (just ordered a new pair and I'm excited to get them). I would sorta-kinda like to get laser surgery, but I'm scared. There's always that tiny chance something could go wrong. So, I figure as long as I can wear my contacts, I'll deal with that. I'm just praying the girls somehow inherited eyesight from someone other than hubby and me!

The most annoying thing for me in my house is not having a true mud room. Mud rooms are not common in this part of the country, but they should be!

Fun list...now I want to go sit at the coffee shop. :)

1.  How did you meet your husband? I was 16 and had recently been through a bad breakup. I went to an open mic night at a local coffee house and he was one of the performers. I was smitten right away. I knew he was quite a bit older so didn't say anything. I was really into poetry and went home to write a poem about him and his music. Months later I submitted the poem to a magazine, it was published and I won a scholarship for college. When I received a copy of the published piece I went back to another open mic and introduced myself and gave him a copy. From that moment on, we have been together....that was January 1995.
2.  What is the one thing in this world that calms you down instantly? Normally, a nice FULL glass of red wine. These days, I settle for a good nights sleep.
3.  What makes you feel more "put together?"  A manicure?  Pedicure?  Great outfit? I love my massages and a good pedi.
4.  If there was one thing you could have for Christmas, what would it be? More of my debt gone. I am kind of struggling with Christmas this year.
5.  Do you wear contacts or glasses?  Would you get Lasik if you could? No contacts for me. Only wear glasses for distance, mostly driving. And no way on eye surgery, I can barely handle eyedrops in my eyes!
6.  If you wake up in the middle of the night, do you lay in your bed trying to go back to sleep?  Or do you get up and try to accomplish something? I roll over and take an ambien :)
7.  What is the most annoying thing in your house that you would totally get rid of if you wouldn't get caught? Not much in my house annoys me, cause I just get rid of shit I don't like!

Hubby and I were friends in college, got drunk one night and hooked up. I'm going to have to come up with a new, cleaner story when the girls are old enough to start asking!

1. How did you meet your husband? Friend of a friend from college - I "hosted" a party which ended up in a door/frame being damaged and he spent the whole next day fixing it, and after that started hanging out more.

2. What is the one thing in this world that calms you down instantly? Music, reading (I'd say the beach, hah, I'm in Missouri)

3. What makes you feel more "put together?" A manicure? Pedicure? Great outfit? All of the above? Definitely makeup since I have the worst undereye circles. And flat-ironed hair.

4. If there was one thing you could have for Christmas, what would it be? Hah, the winning powerball numbers

5. Do you wear contacts or glasses? Would you get Lasik if you could? Yes and yes (not that I can't, but yikes)

6. If you wake up in the middle of the night, do you lay in your bed trying to go back to sleep? Or do you get up and try to accomplish something? I stay in bed. Happens way too often

7. What is the most annoying thing in your house that you would totally get rid of if you wouldn't get caught? Um, one of the cats.

1. How did I meet him? In class... How did I get to know him? Working on shows together. So HA! I wasn't banging the teacher!
2. Totally agree, the beach. We keep looking at places in DE but the whole one income thing makes two mortgage payments a gamble. Then I was thinking a trailer (how trashy! but it's the beach) but ground rent is crazy!
3. I would be happy if something made me feel put together. Anything at all, I'd take it happily. I'm always slightly frazzled.
4. It would come from Canon, have at least two lenses, and it's initials would be DSLR.
5. I desperately need new glasses. Ever since the girls were born I haven't been able to wear contacts. I think I want to try them again. Maybe I'll even buy new make-up and pretend to be a grown up! Lasik scares the hell out of me. What if they slip and melt my brain?
6. Unless something has woken me up, like a dog that needs to go sniff some leaves, I don't just wake up. I have a horrible time falling asleep so I waste my time on the computer doing bills, budgets, and photos.
7. Easy. Husband's wardrobe! Gone. Into a bonfire! He has had this stupid thing for at least twenty years. It was the first piece of furniture he bought and assembled for his first apartment. It was a kitchen pantry and since I have a pantry in this house, he uses it as a wardrobe in our bedroom where it matches nothing.

I'm totally saving this for a day when I am not sure what to blog about.

I remembered you met DH in a bar...but didn't realize it was actually the 2nd time, months later, that you really connected. Crazy!

Great idea for Pinterest wish list!

oh...and totally unrelated to this...but what's with the cat on the sidebar?? I'm totally distracted by it!! ha!

*ahem* I also met my husband in a bar.

If I could get rid of something it would probably be my husband's 25 year old Jeep that he drives once in a blue moon but otherwise just sits in our garage.

I don't have a blog (although I have been thinking about starting one ever since we had our precious baby in June!) so I am going to answer your questions in a comment. Because it's a Monday. And I don't feel like working yet!

1. How did you meet your husband?

We met on Match.com. Kind of embarassing I guess! We talked for over a month before we met, and we almost didn't meet each other because we had both recently met someone else that we kind of liked. But our email/phone chemistry was undeniable so we knew we had to meet. We both knew we were going to marry each other after our first date :)

2. What is the one thing in this world that calms you down instantly?

A hug - cheesy I guess. When I'm stressed or frustrated or mad or sad - I just want a hug (from husband, if someone else touches me I'll probably punch them in the face).

3. What makes you feel more "put together?" A manicure? Pedicure? Great outfit?

All of the above? Pedicure is probably most important to me, because I live in Arizona and I never wear close toed shoes. But, I REALLY feel put together when I have a mani. I even feel put together when I file my nails! Which doesn't happen very often any more with a 5 month old baby demanding all of my "me" time.

4. If there was one thing you could have for Christmas, what would it be?

A new job for husband. He hates his job, and I don't blame him. Unfortunately, given the current state of the economy, we are just happy that he has a job... But your answer cracked me up, because I have a Christmas Wish List on pinterest too! I even showed husband how to log on to my pinterest account and find my list :) It's stocked full of useful things such as VS pj's, smashbox lip gloss, watch, hoop earings (are there 2 r's in earrings - both ways look wrong). I'm lucky in that I pretty much have everything I want.

5. Do you wear contacts or glasses? Would you get Lasik if you could?

No, but my dad used to, and he got Lasik. So yes, if I did, I totally would (get Lasik).

6. If you wake up in the middle of the night, do you lay in your bed trying to go back to sleep? Or do you get up and try to accomplish something?

If I wake up in the middle of the night, it's because my baby woke me up. So I guess I get up to accomplish something - feed him! Otherwise I just try and go back to sleep.

7. What is the most annoying thing in your house that you would totally get rid of if you wouldn't get caught?

My husband's hat collection. He probably has 100 hats - baseball style, not fedora or top :) He even admitted that he NEVER wears them anymore, but he just bought 2 more because "they were a great deal!" We do not have enough closet space to store all of his hats!

OK - so it seems that I SHOULD start a blog because I clearly have a lot to say...
