Good Lord, People!

Clarifications:
  • I am in charge of getting the preschool teachers gift cards from the ENTIRE CLASS!  We collected money so that the teachers could get a few big gifts rather than 18 small ones.  I wouldn't give a teacher $50 regularly...what do you think we are?  The Rockefellers???
  • I give gifts to my mail person and garbage men because the go above and beyond.  I can't tell you the amount of cardboard boxes that we put out that aren't broken down or tied up (like you're supposed to) and they take them anyway...
That is all.

I love that you give gifts to the garbage men and mailman! I'm curious how you do it though, do you go out there and hand it to them?

I don't really feel like mine go above and beyond for me, but maybe something small just to say merry Christmas, it's always nice to do something nice for people.

Our garbage men are awesome too. I'm going to put out a 6 pack of beer for each of them.

Teehee, of course I had to go back and read comments to see what on earth was said.

You do what you need (or want) to. I'm sure you exercise reasonable judgment :)

One of my clients told me that in their school (not in the US) there's a parent who bought DRESSES for each of the teachers on staff. I had to coach her around "just because she's a psycho doesn't mean you have to be one too" Ha :) Not that you're a psycho!

I don't think I ever mentioned but in SA, we're specifically told NOT to tip/ gift the trash men at Christmas :) if one person does, they start hounding the rest of the people and getting quite aggressive!

I guess I need to read the previous post, huh? I do things backwards.

I am going to tip the baggers extra this week when I get my groceries. Here they bag your groceries, push the cart, and load it up in your vehicle. They simply work for tips.

I would have never thought to get the garbage men anything! Now I feel guilty.

I feel kinda cheap over the teacher gifts but we have SO many to buy for: J&S have a Kdg teacher and aide, 4 daycare teachers and then Adam has 3 daycare teachers plus the site managers and kitchen gals from daycare, too. Oh, and bus drivers! agh! The kids made them all ornaments then we did gift certs for our fave smoothie place. $10 for lead teachers and $5 for assistants.
