Eleven Things for Election Day

  1. I don't know why people make such a big deal out of voting...it's quick...it's easy...it's educational...it's fun.
  2. This is the first year that I actually did my research about local questions on the ballot.  I'm proud of myself for finally becoming an informed adult at the age of 38.
  3. The Crazies went with me.  The people were so nice (probably because Hailey was dressed in her Belle costume for her dance class Halloween party that was postponed b/c of that bitch, Sandy).  It was quick.  I let them press some of the things on the screen.  Not the important things, but it made them feel involved.
  4. Buckling a girl in a full Belle princess dress into a car seat that is supposed to be "snug fitting" is a fucking pain in the ass.
  5. Matt wanted a sticker, Hailey did not...go figure.
  6. I hate glitter.
  7. I am still wondering what they're doing in NY and NJ in terms of voting.  There seem to be some pieces of information floating out there, but none of it looks like it's making anything easy or convenient.
  8. There are some local questions that I really hope get passed and some that I really hope don't.
  9. I wish there were a candidate for president that were socially moderate and fiscally conservative.  I wonder if that will ever happen.
  10. What do you think about the Libertarians?
  11. This always cracks me up...it's so on point (as much of his material is).

I'm in California, so far away from the storm affected areas, but I read yesterday that New Jersey is allowing voting by fax or email. I think that's great, so long as you have power and an internet connection. Also, I think Obama actually is fiscally conservative and socially moderate. Also, as far as Libertarians go, I think it is awesome in theory and horrible in practice. I studied "Justice Studies" in college and there was a lot of focus on different political parties/platforms/ideologies, etc. It sounds great, until you realize all of the social programs and structures we rely upon on a daily basis (schools, roads, bridges, library, postal service) -and they have to be funded some how.

Hubby HATES glitter! But, with two girls obsessed with dress up and princesses he is screwed.

I think the libertarians are pure genius for the most part. I don't like to vote for the puppets on the left or right, but I don't want to *waste* my vote. Who am I kidding, MD will always be a dem state. I think I'll vote for Santa!!

I'm sooo not a political person and really, rarely have really strong opinions on much but I also really hate having everyone tell me how to vote, too...tried to make educated decisions today, too.

I take it Sandy didn't affect you much? Hoping not! Any of your family affected??

Obama, a fiscal conservative?! Oh, dear God. Once a teacher, always a teacher, so here goes an explanation on our $16 trillion dollar debt ...

If, at this moment, you went out and started spending one dollar every single second, it would take you more than 31,000 years to spend one trillion dollars. It would take 430 thousand years to pay off the national debt at this rate.

Our nation's entitlement expectations will soon lead as to riots as you see in Greece.

Go to http://www.usdebtclock.org/ to see how fast our debt is increasing.

The youth of today should be terrified by this.
